With more than 30 years experience in the manufacture of electronic torque measuring instruments, Norbar is uniquely placed to understand the important features required in portable testing units.
As a result, Pro-Log is a battery or mains powered unit that is small, cost effective, reliable, accurate and durable, with all the features that even the most demanding customer could require.
It weighs 0.8 kg and has an ergonomically designed, high-density plastic case with location points for the supplied neck strap.
The membrane keypad is impervious to dirt and grease and the menu driven software is simple to understand.
High quality, durable connectors are used with LEMO type on the instrument and military style on the transducer.
The software is a key feature and has benefited from a huge investment.
This enables data to be handled and organised as the user wishes and makes the unit extremely easy to use.
Memory can be sub-divided into blocks, which can contain details of tool type, operator, block name, tool serial number tool model and the transducer to be utilised.
There is a multi-language capability and all data is coded by time and date.
Up to 10,000 data readings can be stored and there is on board statistical analysis of the data in each block.
Pro-Log has an integral rechargeable nickel metal hydride battery giving more than sixteen hours of continuous use with one charge.
It is supplied in a professional case with a universal charge/power supply and space for several transducers.
To take account of the full benefits of the Pro-Log system, Norbar is also introducing a new range of "smart" transducers.
These transducers have built in intelligence in the form of a memory circuit, which contains essential information about the transducer.
Once connected, Pro-log will recognise the transducer and read the serial number and calibration factors so the system is instantly ready for use, thus reducing set up time.
Initially this "smart" technology will be available on Norbar's new range of torque and angle rotary transducers.
These transducers are designed primarily for the testing of rotating power tools such as impulse wrenches and are the perfect complement to the Pro-Log instrument.
Pro-Log can also be used with the majority of strain gauged transducers on the market following the simple operation of loading the calibration factors onto the instrument.
Factors for up to 20 transducers can be stored within Pro-Log's memory so that this operation does not have to be repeated.
The torque measurement industry is changing rapidly and benefiting enormously from changes in electronics and software technology.
